Anna Leventhal in ’08

Writer, Anna Leventhal, is named as one of the Montreal Mirror’s Noismakers of 2008. Anna rocks. I did a podcast about Anna about her Zine library project a couple years back (mp3).

More on this later, but my pal, Hugh, has just launched EarIdeas – a site which helps to cut a path through the chaos of podcasts. I love listening to podcasts, but it’s too time-consuming to ferret out the good ones each week – and I know I miss a lot of great content. This site could be a solution to that problem.
Hey – so I’m a little late on this, but Drawn! is up for two 2007 Weblog Awards.
We’re nominated in the Best Canadian Weblog and Best Topical Weblog categories, so head on over and cast your vote. Voting ends February 2.
The success of the site continues to astound me. Two years later, it’s as much fun as ever. For an overview of the site and it’s storied past, check out this audio interview with Johnny Martz over at the Iconic illustration podcast.
It’s about a year late, but hey – here’s a video interview I did with the one and only Evan Dorkin at last year’s New York Comic Con. The man is just like his comics: scathing and hilarious.
Topics discussed: Why Drawn! is depressing, Jay Stephens, The City of Guelph, and so much more.
He was also suffering from low blood sugar after being trapped behind his table for the whole day. I took advantage of the situation to get him to do a sketch for me.
Here’s the sketch:

I’ll be attending the Podcasters Across Borders conference in Kingston next month (June 23-24) to help promote the CITIZENShift podcast and meet with other podcasters from across Canada.
I’ve been coordinating the CITIZENShift podcast for a few months now. We feature documentary-style audio and interviews, both raw and produced, about current social issues affecting Canadians. Here’s the iTunes link if you’re interested in checking it out.
