Ron Sexsmith’s new album is called Retriever. Why?

I’ve made up a couple reasons to keep myself satisfied. These are open-source reasons. You can have them too if you like and Ron is free to use them in any interviews.

I) Super Furry Animals have a song called ‘Golden Retriever’. Apparently
Ron listened to SFA a lot during the Blue Boy tour (which is evident
on his last album, Cobblestone Runway). His new album is called ‘Retriever’. Though not a direct reference, it is subtly influenced by the Welsh misfits’ dog song.

II) The Beatles had an album called ‘Revolver’. It was, disputably, their best
album. I don’t know why they called it that, but they did. According to Elvis Costello, Ron’s new album is very “Beatles-y”. It’s called ‘Retriever’. Only one syllable away.
