Back from SPX

Just got back from the Small Press Expo last night. It was great.
Always inspiring to see John.
Ate a tofu hotpot with Hope, Bryan and Mariko & Jillian Tamaki and tried to absorb some of their brilliance through the table.
Didn’t work.
I traded books with the humble but masterful Richard Thompson, whose syndicated Cul de Sac strip is the most wonderful thing since Calvin & Hobbes.
I stole potato chips from Laura Park and was a bit intimidated by the deceptively diminutive Julia Wertz – who’s book, Fart Party, by the way, is probably my favourite comic this year. You should buy it and if it you don’t love it something’s wrong with you.
All the D&Q people were stellar and can’t wait to get drawing again.
As always, Tom Spurgeon has a comprehensive round-up of the whole event.
I’m doing sketches in a bunch of books I’m late mailing out (late). The sushi above is a sketch I did for Aisling.
