Arctic Puzzle

by matt on October 29, 2008

I did a 2-page puzzle for the November issue of ChickaDEE magazine on the theme of a northern community.

I strayed from reality a bit on this one and had some fun with the colours. Here’s a snap of the printed version all decked out with text… (Art director: Trinh Truong)

I loved things like this when I was little! there’s so much to look at, over and above the puzzles. great colours too

me too. this were some of my favorite pages, looking at every detail from one corner to the other. from this to the orgy lineart – there is always something fun to look at on your page.

Love the color choices here, Matt. I have to get myself thinking outside of my usual color schemes.

Really wonderful and it brings back really fond memories of the magazine.

Just followed a link over from you Twitter. Love the art, but I have a question: For the ‘Wacky Water’ puzzle, isn’t one of the 5 things wrong the reflection of the penguin, which has been erased and replaced with the word ‘Start’ in the printed version?

Warlach – I didn’t notice that!

I was really happy with the little puffin/arctic tern.

I wanted them to put ’start’ in front of the seal to the left…. hrmgh.

Yeah, it was really cute which is a shame. Sorry for calling your Puffin a Penguin though, wasn’t looking closely enough.

Haha, think of all those kids who will only be able to find 4 things wrong with the water though. Hours of frustration, no doubt. :P
