Drawn & Quarterly Window Display

We set up an Ojingogo window display at the Drawn & Quarterly store here in Montreal.

Here’s what the shop window looks like normally. Not bad, but it could use more whales.

Here’s a Photoshop mock-up of what I was proposing to do with the window.

They gave us the green light! So we printed a bunch of images on vinyl (thanks to my awesome pal, Stone, who works at a local print-shop).

Then I cut all the images out with an x-acto knife and stuck the vinyl to huge sheets of foam-core (Thanks Julien and Saleema for their help with this bit).

Here’s one of the images (of the tall sage character, Angak) after it was cut out:

Here’s April (and Kit, who’s hiding) hanging another piece. Ah, whales, that’s better.

Night falls and we’re finished! Here’s the left window:

and April admiring her handiwork in the other window:

Now all we need are some books to put in there. They’re supposed to be in from the printers’ today…

Update: They’re here!

No two ways around it. Some damn fine work you’ve got there.

That looks totally amazing! I call dibs on the trees, fish and/or whale if you don’t have a home for them when this is over.

Super fun! I love designing for diorama-like spaces! I got to do a show like this once, only you could walk through the forest… I’m going to have to get the book here in Mpls/StPaul, though, without the awesome window display.

Hey John - Good eye! The window display was 100% inspired by the Konami Komando window at articule.
