Shuster Awards: Ojingogo nominated in Best Webcomic category

The Joe Shuster Canadian Comic Book Creator Awards are coming up next weekend in Toronto.

I’m very honoured to say Ojingogo was nominated in the web-comics category. Here’s a banner about that:

I’m going to try to make it down to Toronto, say Hi to everyone and pick up some comics all at once.

The Fountain on DVD

Just watched The Fountain with Assistant-to-the-director commentary. You can’t find that commentary track on the DVD. My girlfriend was assistant-to-the-director.

Who was Tintin?

Anthony Lane has a nice overview of Tintin in last week’s New Yorker. Sadly, the piece didn’t make it online. Writes Lane: There is no sex in Tintin…

Tintin passes increasing portions of his life with an unmarried seaman, yet it seldom occurs to us to question their rapport. Tintin never has a girlfriend, nor does he express the need for one, and that absence is part of his greater mystery…. Tintin, nominally a reporter, never receives a salary nor files a story.

We receive these stories as children and never think to question them well into adulthood.
