About Alice, by Calvin Trillin (14 down, 38 to go)

Calvin Trillin’s bio at the back of the book only says one thing – that he’s a staff writer at the New Yorker. And that’s pretty much all I needed to know.

About Alice is a simple, sweet tribute of life with his late wife – and not surprisingly, it’s very well-written.

The Saddest Boy in the World is a Canadian short film about a nine-year-old boy who tries to commit suicide at his own birthday party.

Not to be confused with Birthday Girl, which is a Canadian short film about an twelve-year-old girl who stages a funeral at her own birthday party.

Not to be confused with Birthday Girl, which is an American film about a mail-order bride.

Finally watched Mon Oncle, Antoine - the classic Quebec film. Brault’s cinematography was wonderful, but I feel like I missed something. Was it an allegory?

Going to see The Host tonight. Good Korean fun. Can’t wait.
