Here’s an illustration I did for last week’s Montreal Mirror. The article is about running in the winter. A lot of the running freaks in Montreal are out there on the mountain in -30/-40 degree temperatures.

Okay, great, so you’re wearing the latest breathable fabrics. What I want to know is how do you prevent your alveoli from freezing and your lungs from collapsing? [Do lungs even collapse when they freeze?]

Freaks.

I’m a bad winter runner. That’s basically me in the background.

Given their moisture content, I’d assume lungs actually expand slightly when they freeze….
