TCAF round-up

I had an amazing time at the Toronto Comic Arts Festival this past week-end. Ojingogo was very well-received by everyone who came by the table and I had a wonderful time doing sketches for everyone inside their books. I still have plenty of books left, though, so I’ll be setting up a store and making them available through the site.
Easily the best part of the week-end was getting to meet all the cool comic readers and creators in attendance. For someone who usually reads and draws comics in a very solitary environment, this sort of event can be wonderfully overwhelming and even a little dizzying. Kalman Androsofsky and Ramon Perez spent the better part of the two days selling original art and eating their luscious Po’ Boy sandwiches. Brenden was AWOL most of Saturday as he dutifully stocked up on interview material for future horcasts! (FYI, he’s got some great content with industry icons such as Paul Pope and Kid Koala). Matt Blackett generously provided me with duct tape for the week-end. Hope Larson and Kean Soo gently offered their opinions on how to print stuff properly in the future. Andy Runton informed us that a ‘hummer’ is also a ‘hummingbird’ to birdwatchers in Florida. I was honoured to finally hang out with Flight moguls Kazu Kibuishi, Derek Kirk Kim, and Amy Kim Ganter who I hope to see again soon, with any luck. It was a particular pleasure to meet the very sweet and talented Carla Speed McNeil.I also scored a couple great sketches from industry icons, Seth and Sammy Harkham, which I’ll scan and post soon. Lastly, Karl nearly reduced me to tears when he gave me a beautiful Ojingogo sketch at the end of Saturday’s proceedings. Needless to say, I’ll be doing some frame-shopping in the near future.
Check out Kean’s site for a great photographic commentary of the week-end!

I’m not sure you’re fully aware of what you’ve created in Ojingogo. Try typing it into Google, you’ll see what I mean.
