IPOD in the TOILET!!
What follows is text from an actual thread that surfaced in the iPodlounge forum yesterday.
For me, reading it had the same drama and movement as a good episode of ER.
xboardr720: IPOD in the TOILET!!
Yes, it really happened, and I’d rather not go into it right now. It was submerged in water for 3-4 seconds, and now the screen is on and not responding. It’s making a little sound like it’s still running. I tried opening it but couldn’t get the case open except for a corner. SOMEONE HELP!15GB new iPod
What a shame.cheddar: let it dry out completely before you mess with it!
xboardr720: Thanks, how long will that take?
fasterthanlight: it will dry much faster without the case closed, and no water can really escape… so OPEN THE CASE!
xboardr720: I did try to open it at first in a panic, but could only get the corner popped open. Couldn’t find any other post as to how I open it up. I don’t want to break it in the process. Any more help would be much appreciated.
fasterthanlight: flip it white side down
press on the laser etched apple logo, you will see the side flare out
take an exact-o knife, and there are 5 tabs that run the length of the ipod. with the exacto knife, dislodge the clips.xboardr720 (6:31PM):Thanks a lot!
xboardr720 (7:02PM): opened it, wiped off some condensation, and now it works perfectly! Wow, these things are great if they can survive a plunge into the toilet!
businessman: Amazing!…it actually survived that? Swweeeet….
Veasey: wow, that is so cool. if somebody got their ipod working after they dropped it in a toilet, then maybe Jesus really did walk on water.

Hello, Just wanted to add a post to thank you all, this thread helped me out tremendously…I like this guy, also dropped my iPod (I love my iPod) in the toilet…I pulled it out, cried and then got online to figure out what the hell to do. The light was on, and it was clicking. Not responding to any buttons I was pressing, I couldn’t turn it off. So I finally (after about 20 seconds) turned the “hold” switch on. The screen was blank and it stopped clicking…the light was off also. So I got online and found this thread, opened it, and there was considerable amount of water inside of the unit. I propped the hard drive up and left a fan on it for about a day and a half…(I didn’t want to take any chances!) Clicked it back together…and IT WORKED FINE!!! I was absolutely amazed…thank GOD!! I am so happy, I promise to take good care of Frank (that’s his name) in the future. And thank you for your help…this thread helped tremendously.
